Hedgehog charity raises £1,000 through Lincs Lotto

08 March 2019

Appleby-based animal charity, Andrew’s Hedgehog Hospital, has raised £1,000 thanks to players of Lincs Lotto.

Since launching in September 2017, Lincs Lotto players have raised over £80,000 for good causes across North Lincolnshire.

Sixty pence from each £1 Lincs Lotto ticket sold goes to supporting good causes across North Lincolnshire. Players can choose which good cause they donate to when they buy their tickets, with 50p going to the chosen cause, and 10p supporting local community groups and projects through the Community Grant Fund.

Andrew’s Hedgehog Hospital has been signed up as a Lincs Lotto good cause since the launch and has raised £1,000 through the community lottery.

Frank Tett from Andrew’s Hedgehog Hospital, said:

“Any money raised through Andrew’s Hedgehog Hospital is a bonus. We are thrilled to bits with the £1,000 that has been raised – it will go towards ensuring our hedgehogs are well fed and looked after.

“A hedgehog costs 50p to feed a day so this money will allow us to feed a hedgehog for 2,000 days. This is fantastic and we would like to say a huge thank you to our sponsors.”

Each Lincs Lotto player has a one in 50 chance of winning a prize, with a jackpot up for grabs of a whopping £25,000. The weekly draw takes place each Saturday night.

Cllr Richard Hannigan, Deputy Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“Lincs Lotto is a unique way for local good causes to raise money, with 60 per cent of all the ticket sales going directly to funding charities and projects in our communities; this is over double the amount given to good causes by the National Lottery.

“There are around 100 good causes signed-up to Lincs Lotto, and it’s fantastic to see Andrew’s Hedgehog Hospital benefitting from this extra £1,000 thanks to lottery players.

“If you belong to a local charity or community group, find out more about signing up to Lincs Lotto to help boost your fundraising.”
